That really depends on the construction of your building. The general guidelines are a thickness of between 100mm to 200 mm depending on target U-Value. The u-value target required for NEW-Build NZEB walls = 0.18 W/m²K.

U-value is measured in W/m²K (Watts per Metres Squared Kelvin). Basically U-Value represents the heat loss within a building or through materials (doors, windows, blockwork, roof, flooring etc.). Lower U-Value is always better, better heat retention, better energy efficiency and most importantly…. lower heating costs.

A simple box shape is always easier to cover then a building with lots of corners and angles. It also depends on the thickness/ target U-Value. Usually, the price for a NSAI approved EWI system will come in at around £160.00 - £250.00 SQM.

Well that’s easy… EWI is Top Dog for many reasons. Better U- Values, space saving, easier access and good looking! Although we do need some good weather for installation! They both have their advantages and disadvantages, both serve a purpose. For example, you cannot use EWI on stone buildings, therefore IWI would be the correct choice.
